Personality Profile: Todd Ehrlich (Founder & Chairman)

Todd Ehrlich is Triserv’s founder as well as Chairman of the Board. In 2008, he was running a software and services company that served the title, escrow and closing side of the mortgage space. He had dinner with a customer, who was an executive at a mid-sized bank. The banker said, “You guys are wonderful at what you do - if you could figure out how to fix the appraisal space, it’d be amazing!”

Todd was surprised to learn at that time many AMCs took up to 90 days to pay their appraisers, and these appraisers were largely individuals running their own small businesses who really needed the cash. As a result of this practice, it wasn’t just the appraisers that were hurting, it was the lender and homeowner as well, because everything took longer and service was poor. The three parties weren’t in alignment.

Because of this dinner conversation, Todd decided to launch an AMC that would do things differently. He drew up a three point plan, determined to pay appraisers every two weeks, build proprietary technology better than anything on the market, and provide the best customer service.

Paying appraisers before Triserv gets paid requires having a lot more cash on hand, but it’s worth it. The end result is better service to the homeowner, lender, and appraiser. In fact, that’s where Triserv gets its name, from serving those three different constituencies and bringing them into alignment.

Triserv was officially launched in 2009 with just two customers to start. It’s now licensed in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, and manages up to 18,000 appraisals every month.

A former Navy SEAL, Todd is a serial entrepreneur who has launched a number of successful businesses in a variety of industries, including beverages (Kill Cliff, Inc. 500 #103 in 2015) and financial (BAMFi, Inc. 500 #121 2019). What motivates him? Todd reports, “I have an ethical responsibility to do the best I can every day for the business I’m in. Not just for myself and my family, but for our team and the larger community. I always like to give back, especially to the Navy SEAL / Special Operations community. Triserv donates to Special Ops charities, and that motivates the hell out of me.”

When asked about future goals, Todd answers, “I’d like for Triserv to be the #1 AMC in the industry, both in terms of size and performance. We are already the best performer, so we’re halfway there.”

Outside of work, Todd enjoys snowboarding, wakesurfing, fly fishing, hunting, and golf. He and his wife, three kids and two dogs live in Atlanta.
